“I want to introduce you to our country,” Mr Go told Donna.

* How is he going to do that? *

“Sounds good,” she said but it sounded less good the more Go explained what he had in mind.

It was a big, complex plan, whereas she was jet-lagged and wanted to relax.

“How much of Korea are you going to introduce me to? A restaurant would be nice, sir. I’ve been living off airplane food for a couple of days now. It tastes good but there’s no substance to it. Temporarily dulls hunger pain but doesn’t really satisfy nutritionally.

“Anyway, maybe after that you’d be so kind to drive me to my apartment? I’m exhausted. That’ll be enough Korea for the day, thanks.”

Go only heard the dinner part.

“Yeah, yeah, we will go to a nice restaurant – it will be in another place.”

“You mean another area of town? That’d be cool.”

He waved her off.

“In another place. We will take a short flight.”

* Where are they going to go? *

Another flight?

Not exactly what Donna had in mind after being cooped-up in cramped airplane seats for over 24 hours.

But she bit her lip, keenly aware of the good will that seemed to flow between her and Go up to now.

Go explained that they’d be flying to Cheju Island for ‘MT’.

But the explanation was begging more questions than it was answering.

Where was this … island?

And what the hell was MT?

* What is ‘MT’? *

Donna strategically kept her mouth shut however, yet over the next few minutes casually mingled with the few remaining housewives and quietly asked about MT.

She was told that ‘membership training’ is like professional development yet usually for all staff as a group.

Oddly, she was the only staff going on this MT!

She was also told that Cheju Island was for honeymooners.

* Why is Go taking her there then? *

It was only her first few hours in Korea, though, and she was on high alert not to offend or disappoint her new boss.

It just wouldn’t look right for her to put up resistance or cancel out.

Who the hell was she?

Just a guest in this country and she considered herself extremely thankful to have this job at all after the previous cancellation.

The bottom line was that – from what Donna knew about Korea – employees basically did whatever their boss told them to.

And if you were invited somewhere or offered a gift, you accepted.

Unconditionally.

Wholeheartedly.

Even if you didn’t want it.

There are times in life when one must act…

At the same time, though, she damn well knew it would be sheer idiocy to ignore the array of red warning lights that were going off in her head about Mr Go.

Surely his heart was in the right place, even though he may very well have other plans for his hands!

* Is Donna going to question Go’s motives for this extra trip? *

Miss No arrived and they got talking.

“I knew nothing about this MT that Mr Go is planning for you,” No stated emphatically.

Getting a sense that something was awry, she stormed into his office and closed the door.

Donna was standing nearby and could hear mumblings of an intense discussion, with sharp accusations from No and agonizing apologies from Go.

When No emerged – with a big pasted smile on her face – it was announced that the MT would still go ahead and Miss No would also be on it.

They’d go as a threesome.

No had never been to the tropical Cheju and jumped at the opportunity.

* Is something more going to go on in Cheju?…*

Tomorrow: No, Go, and Donna get to Cheju Island.
