This comical situation is based on a true story. In the original instance, the bottle wasn’t quite as shapely as today’s cartoon but it was quite beautiful (product was dish soap) and yours truly actually grabbed one immediately for purchase.

In the old days “sex sells” was a commonplace remark made about advertising. Society has softened a bit since then as nowadays basically everybody (including children) are looking at everything (via internet, if not in real life) so designers are using all kinds of unique shapes to sell items.

One wonders about the customer in today’s cartoon – did she or didn’t she actually buy it?
