Hi mARToons fan!

 

One thing I noticed on my recent road trip from Saskatoon to Ontario is the huge number of first nations reserves.

 

It seems there were signs – little signs – pointing down roads where they were located. And I saw sign after sign…

 

So what’s my point? My point is why was I surprised by this?

 

Because the existence of those lands is surpressed by the media and the education system so whities like me grow up not realizing how significant they are – even merely the numbers of them.

 

Along a similar note, I once saw a map of British Columbia showing all the first nations lands in BC.

 

It’s almost the whole province!

 

Again, why am I surprised by this?
