MT#353 Worship Old & New by M. West & S. Bush
Hi mARToons fan!
Nietszche said “God is dead” but we still continue to worship – materialistic things and celebrities. It’s a different kind of worship than religious worship, of course, but is it any less pernicious?
Rock star worship can easily spin out of control. Have you ever taken time to read the comments on music videos on You Tube? “This is the best guitar solo ever.” “She is the best singer in the universe.” Isn’t it okay to simply like something?
Funny how we tend to think what we like is the best. I distinctly recall an argument outside R.H. King High School in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada back in the late ’70s. I was a student there.
Two long-haired dudes were embroiled in a nasty exchange about who was better – Kiss or Nazareth. They almost came to fists.
